Buzz Buzz

Halloween began Saturday morning with a batch of pumpkin waffles and ended with a parade, a party and some awesome trick or treating.

We went down to San Jose to participate in the annual Grace Ave parade. The street I grew up on isn't anything special, but it has it's one claim to fame- the Halloween parade, complete with refreshments and the local high school marching band.

Gathering with everyone to await the start of the parade

Sophia actually enjoyed her costume and loved seeing all the other kids dressed up.
Fixing the hair and getting into the spirit

My dad decided to bring their dog out (Red) to march in the parade

This parade is just what any good parade should be. We marched up the street
and then right back down the street

After the parade, we went back up the peninsula and stopped at Debbie Grewal's for a bowl of chili and then went trick or treating down her street. Sophia got to meet up with a few of her friends.
Cabrillo Street in Burlingame is the place to be for Halloween. It was amazing and yet completely out of control in what people did with their houses. First of all they blocked off the street so that people could wander around and enjoy the houses without worrying about cars. Second, house after house was decorated to the nines- when all was said and done, between the decorations and the lighting and the candy and the costumes, each house was probably dropping over a thousand dollars that night. Lastly, everyone was sitting on their porch to hand out the candy. I loved that- it made it so friendly and inviting. It was like everyone was just hanging out enjoying the night, like the biggest block party.
Warren and I had a blast with all the activities. The icing on the cake was getting to see Sophia experience Halloween and that she actually had a great time.

What a fantastic Halloween! Sophie's costume is so cute. My favorite picture is the one with Sophie looking at Red the dog. Little kids always look so excited around animals.

She's so cute! The best part about that costume is you can get away with using it as a normal dress!
