The 4th

We woke on the birthday of our nation and did what every good American should- tune into the National Hotdog eating contest and see who is the most capable of jamming massive amounts of processed food into their stomachs. As we ate a tasty breakfast of French Toast, Warren became disheartened that he did not have an American flag to fly out our window. I thought that it would have been a bad idea anyways as we don't really have a flag pole and we would have had to tape it to a window. After enjoying our morning, we went over to our friends, the Beckers, house for a truly patriotic celebration. With true American spirit and ingenuity, they had coverted their patio area into a massive party experience complete with a pool, snow cone area and ample seating. Warren and I enjoyed ourselves as we dined in the "Bamboo Gardens" section of the backyard.

After the food had settled, it was time for the games. The duck races were first and Warren won a prize in the second round for not cheating--it was an American flag bandana which he proceeded to wear around his head for the rest of the day. He told me that he did not feel truly patrotic that day until he finally got to wear the flag.

After the duck races, we went out to the front yard and played with the human elastic- basically a lycra human sized rubber band that allows you to fling yourself all over the place. Warren was of course one of the first to volunteer and I sat back watching him enjoy himself, waiting for when one of them would smash up against the house or fall and break some bone.

We left the party to go to the movies and saw Transformers. It was a totally awesome movie- definitely more the meets the eye. All in all- a good holiday. And definitely a great way to celebrating not being at work :)
