Apple Picking- Preschool Version

During the first week of October (and just a week or two after apple picking with the family), Sophia's preschool took a field trip to an apple orchard- Oregon Heritage Farms.

While we didn't get to do any apple picking ourselves, we got to see a lot of apples. So technically I would call this more of an apple viewing than an apple picking excursion.

We got to take a tractor ride through the apple orchard

during which we saw the "farm house". I say this in quotes because it was more of an adobe style mini-mansion with a huge pond and spraying fountain. Who knew life on the farm could be so posh?

In addition to the tractor ride, there was the child size hay maze,

eating some apples, trying cider, and picking out a pumpkin. (Side note, it doesn't really seem to me to be much of a pumpkin picking when you are selecting one that has already been picked off the vine and decoratively placed in a pile around a tractor. It should be called pumpkin selecting or something that implies less effort or choice.)

The big score of the day was getting 10 fresh picked ears of corn for $1 from their farm store and the little apple shaped sippy cup that Sophia got to take home. Sophia asks her preschool teachers at least weekly when they get to go to the apple farm again.
